Office of Community Relations
The Office of Community Relations shares authority, responsibility and accountability for community engagement, working directly with the external community as it seeks to understand the target audience and the environment. Community relations helps to generate and enhance constructive relationships with external entities and develop messages that encourage support. These relationships are fostered through communication about university programs, its mission, culture and objectives. The office serves as counsel to senior administrators bringing perspective and analysis of external events and their significance to decisions made by the university.
Another important function of community relations is to communicate with neighbors and groups near campus as the university moves forward. Understanding that these groups have a particular interest in the success of the university, communication is two way offering neighbors information and a voice.
